Hitler Options

This book, edited by Kenneth Macskey, who is also the author of Invasion: The Alternate History of the German Invasion of England, July 1940, is the editor this book. The book contains ten scenarios by various different authors for different military decisions that could have been made (some by the Germans, others by the Allies) during World War II.

The scenarios cover a variety of different periods and possibilities in the war, from a German Mediterranean strategy (actually two different Mediterranean strategies), to a different German strategy in Operation Barbarossa, to early German development of the atomic bomb, to Allied bombing concentrating on causing Hamburg-like firestorms, to Britain and the United States concentrating on attacking the "soft under belly" of Europe instead of focusing on the Normandy invasion. As you might expect, there is of course a scenario for a German invasion of England - if you have read Invasion: The Alternate History of the German Invasion of England, July 1940, it might be a little familar. I honestly can't say that I found all the scenarios completely plausible, but I've read every single one, several times, and I definitely enjoyed the book.

Any student of World War II history, and anybody with an interest in alternate history really should buy this book. The only possible exception that I can think of is if you are only interested in Sealion, and if you already have Invasion: The Alternate History of the German Invasion of England, July 1940, then you might not want this book - but otherwise, buy it. Buy it today. I'm certain that you won't regret it.

Product Description:
Ten scenarios that might have changed the course of the war Detailed examinations by ten leading military historians Now for the first time in paperback A thought-provoking study of what might have been. British Army Review In this compelling book, ten internationally acclaimed military authors present the greatest maybes of World War II. Based on crucial turning points of the war, these dramatic possibilities develop from choices Hitler could realistically have made; they fall well within the bounds of what might actually have occurred, and are projected only from factual situations and the options available. Real people behave in character, and projected technological innovations are all plausible. The resulting scenarios will grip the reader and graphically illustrate the role of chance in history, showing how major consequences can result from minor changes in the course of events.
